I came across an interesting article in my blog subscriptions the other day. In the article, the author gives instructions of how to create a batch file that will record dates and times of when files were created for files that are being shared. Here is a link to the whole article:

If I was still sharing files on our Windows Server, I would for sure use this! I have recently went to a Synology NAS (Network Attached Storage), which helps take some of the load off of the server. This logging feature is built into the one that we have. Here is a link to find one like the one that we have been using:
